This review is for the newly released Bluetooth headset and bluetooth adapter for the Ericsson T28 series phone. The adapter is also compatible with other Ericsson Models.
I just received the Limited Edition kit which includes the following:
Bluetooth Adapter for Phone
Bluetooth Headset
Charger
World adapters for the charger
CD-ROM Software
Manual
Hard Carrying Case (Travel case)
Soft leather belt clip
Ericsson Limited Edition Tin that all this good stuff comes in.
I paid roughly $500 for this, and of course it will be much cheaper soon. But is it worth it? That's what we're going to find out!
Initial reaction is incredible. The headset came fully charged out of the box, and while I can not comment on the battery life, I've been using it for a few hours and haven't had a problem.
My biggest fear was the the volume would not be loud enough on the headset. This is not a problem. I have the headset cranked to 7/8 and it is plenty loud with another notch to go!
The unit is stylish (although geeky) and fits VERY comfortably over either your left or right ear.
Initial setup requires you to tell the phone about the headset. This is a one time only initialization so they can "get acquainted". It took me about 5 minutes out of the box before I was placing voice calls to all my friends.
So, with this headset, you can answer calls, initiate calls via Voice Dial and adjust volume up/down.
My only complaint is that when you initiate a voice call, their is a 1 second delay between when the headset thinks its ok to say the name and when the phone is actually ready to listen. Maybe this has been fixed in newer firmware, but I will find out when I update the phone.
Instead of asking is it worth $500, let's ask what IS it worth? Well, you are bluetooth-enabling your phone, for one. Then you are getting the headset with a handsome pair of carrying cases. Plus an extra AC adapter that can be used for either the headset OR the phone itself. I would probably expect to pay at least upwards of 2-300 hundred when prices settle down. By that time they may not offer this kit anymore anyway.
I'm very excited to be one of the first to use Bluetooth technology, and I am not on a quest to find a Bluetooth PC Card adapter!
