Sprint PCS is the first digital phone company built from the ground up. Virtually all major cities now have Sprint PCS service. If you are within any Sprint PCS service area, then your call is considered a local call and not a roaming call. For example, if you live in New Orleans like me and travel to Indianapolis, which also has Sprint PCS service, then when you use your phone in Indianapolis, your calls will still be considered as local calls. With other companies, when you go out of your own service area, you are roaming and are charged for each minute, regardless of the number of minutes you may have left on your plan.

You may purchase a two-band phone or a single-band phone. With a single-band phone, you can only use the phone within a Sprint PCS service area. On the other hand, with a dual-band phone, when you are outside of a Sprint PCS service area, your phone becomes cellular and will pick up the closest cellular tower. In these situations, roaming fees will apply.

I am a Realtor for Keller Williams Realty in New Orleans, Metairie, and Kenner and the phone is my primary source of business. This means that I needed a plan that includes a whole lot of minutes, a mailbox, and call waiting. I paid $24.95 for my phone, which is a Qualcomm QPC 1920 single band phone. I pay $99.00 per month and receive 1,000 minutes any time and 500 minutes on nights and weekends. You also receive the first incoming minute for free. My phone has call waiting and also registers the numbers of any missed calls so that you may call them back. The phone also has a mailbox that can be accessed from the phone or from any other phone. I can usually go 2-3 days without charging and I use my phone quite a bit.

I belive that the $99.00 per month plan through Sprint PCS is the best corporate plan available anywhere. However, if you do not need this many minutes, then try one of the many other Sprint PCS plans. They go as low as $14.95 per month for the emergency plan, which does not include any minutes.
