DirecTV at its best

I am very satisfied with DirecTV since switching over from my own cable service back at home. DirecTV offers an abundance of channels and opens up so many more channel options-- the typical couch potato can cater his most favorite activities and interests (if he has any) by customizing his viewing channels.
Take for instance the NBA season pass. For about 80 dollars, you can view most all games (broadcast from local affiliates) everyday of the week. Cable up here in Ithaca, New York (although run by Time Warner Cable) lacks any NBA games; the only games they play are Knicks games. And, they are seldom on.
More Channel options include: the basic MTV, comedy central, TBS, USA and all those other national affiliate stations.
DirecTV allows you to customize your channels. They simply have a lot of programming options to meet the demands of the audience
Movie channels are hot right now. DirecTV offers a great programming package that includes STARZ, HBO, HBO Plus, HBO 2, HBO West, all the Showtime channels, all the Cinemax channels for a very competitive price...something ranging from 40 to 60 dollars.
Also, DirecTV just merged with USSB (which hosted most movie channels) allowing for one easy monthly payment record.
There are many Pay-per-view channels. The prices are fairly reasonable as well, at only a couple dollars per movie. Also, you can program the movies (when you want to watch them, and even record them). There is also an all day movie channel function. You pay for the movie once and can watch it all day long.
CONS
My RCA DSS loads extremely slow. The numerous program guides and channels to choose from takes a long time to load, and there is lag time when I am "flipping" through channels.
The newer versions offer 32 bit, some even 64 bit.
CUSTOMER SERVICE is horrible. I called for about a week trying to get a hold of any customer service, but the wait was always longer than forty five minutes. Nowadays, they have an automatic answering service that is not useful at all; they just give you scripted message.
NO LOCAL CHANNELS??? I was unable to receive local channels, and still am unable. However, about a couple weeks ago, congress passed some law
allowing satellite companies to broadcast local networks. I called DirecTv up immediately, and the scripted service said my region (southern New England) at the moment was unable to receie local channels. I do receive CBS, CBS west, NBC, NBC west, ABC, and ABC west but do not receive FOX (they do not allow me access to FOX channels anymore because they claim that I can receive the channel with a normal antenna)
Overall
Aside from some of the cons, I cannot be happier with the picture quality of DSS and channel selections. They are simply unmatched.
