Let me first say that I love my cell phone. And I really like quality of equipment and technical service from SprintPCS. However, their customer service and billing departments could use a lot of work.
Up until last week there were two PCS phones on my account with Sprint, one is mine, the other is my mother's. I decided to buy a new phone for myself and another as a Christmas gift for a relative. So, I called Sprint to activate the phones, change the phone number on my old phone and change my billing plan. I never thought something so simple could become such a nightmare. First of all, the service rep I spoke with to activate the new phones completely messed up my entire account. Suddenly, I was being billed for three different rate plans not to mention all of the other aspects that were exactly what I had specifically said I didn't want. The rep at activation also told me that I would have to call Customer Care to have the number on my old phone changed. Thank goodness she did!!! After about 20 minutes on hold I finally reached a very nice lady who openly admitted that the previous rep had mangled my account beyond recognition. After another half hour on the phone with her it appeared that my account had been fixed and given a credit for all of the time and trouble.
All seemed well again until I went to their website to check how much was due on my next bill. I was in for a shock when the page opened!!! It seems that I am still signed up for two plans and additional features that I did not authorize. I called Customer Care Billing and stayed on hold for the seemingly customary 35 minutes. When someone finally answered my call, I was placed back on hold for "one to two" minutes while my account information was accessed. Throughout the next agonizing 40 Minutes, I was placed on hold another 5 times. After all the grueling questions and bad elevator music I was finally issued a service credit and my account finally seems back in order.
All I have to say is WHAT A MESS!!!!
Sprint PCS Customer service is not for the faint of heart. It seems to me that persistence and a little attitue are the only way to survive their billing department.
