| tfung's Full Review: B&W Powered Subwoofer ASW 500 |
The ASW-500 is the smallest of these subs from B&W. It's an entry-level model, sporting an onboard 70-watt amplifier that drives a 10-inch woofer. The vented cabinet has a black finish and spike feet to keep it in place even if it's not on carpet.
This unit is suitable for the smallest rooms. If your listening space is medium sized, consider stepping up to the ASW-1000 ($700 list), a unit with a 12-inch driver, delivering low-end down to 25 Hz.
Another sub to consider in this price range is Klipsch's $399 list KSW-10, which has a 10-inch driver and a 225-watt amp. This unit is the same size as the 500, but puts considerably more power into the same size unit.
