SOUND QUALITY
The sound quality of the i2Go eGo is by far the best most intense sound I have heard from an mp3 player. The Bass is fully adjustable from level 0 to level 9, and the treble has 3 levels of its own. There are preset levels such as Distortion (my favorite), Earbud, Jazz, Rock, and more. but if you don't wish to screw with them, you don't have to. You can also save the settings of EQ, treble, and bass for each individual song. Also, don't judge the sound quality of the eGo from the crappy earbuds that i2Go threw in the box. Get some quality phones from Sony, or Kenwood, and then form an opinion.
Sound Quality Bottom Line: By far the best yet. Rating: 5/5
FILE TRANSFER
The transfer cable uses a USB cable as opposed to parallel port. Therefore, it is much faster than some of the others. Usually, it only takes 30 seconds a song. It also supports mp3 uploading, enabling you to load it up at a friends house, and put the contents of the disk onto your hard drive.
File Transfer Bottom Line: fast, easy, and no bugs. Rating: 5/5
LEARNING CURVE
This one is a little more complicated than most, but the manual from i2Go online is very straight forward, and should be masterful in a short time.
Learning Curve Bottom Line: A little complicated, but you'll get the hang of it. Rating: 4.5/5
EXTRAS
This player has many patented features that are fun to use. The first one is mp3Mail. mp3Mail is a program that translates your text email from a POP account that you choose to mp3 format, and puts it onto your player. Just specify a time and a place, and mp3Mail will translate and put your mail onto your eGo for your listening in the car. Next, push the interact button to record your response. Plug the eGo back into the PC, and it will upload and send your mp3 reply. Another feature unique to the eGo is its upgradability. The i2Go staff is constantly releasing software improvements on its website. These improvements can be downloaded and transfered to the eGo. For example, one patch enabled the battery life to be extended. All of these patches are available for download on the i2Go website, and they are 100 percent FREE. There is also an internal speaker on the eGo, enabling others to listen to what you're listening to. The sound quality isn't that great through the speaker, however.
Extras Bottom Line: The features are all fun to play with, and the software upgrades are constantly improving. Rating: 5/5
THE BOTTOM LINE
Let's review:
Sound: 5/5
File Transfer: 4.5/5
Learning Curve: 4.5/5
Extras: 5/5
Bottom Line: Although only a startup company, i2Go Inc. has presented a great first product. Let's hope the next one lives up to this one.
