I was researching systems, looking for the best buy and what not, and was almost certain that I was going to buy one of Sony's home theater packages, but when a salesman brought me over to the 503 I was sold on
the spot. For starters- the system has a total of 600 watts, 100 to each channel and the 100w powered sub woofer, and trust me, unless you are wanting to blast your roof off- 600W should be enough. Although I do recommend upgrading the speaker wires that come with the system, it will make a big difference in the sound quality.
I must say, I was not expecting a receiver this nice to come with a system like this. It has tons of upgradability, and you can hook-up just about anything you want to it.
Now, lets get to the pros and cons of the system-
I think that the best part about this package is the quality of the receiver, and the nice sub woofer. The weakest part about the system is probably the front and rear speakers, there are no major problems, but
they do leave something to be desired.
In my opinion, this is one of the best buys that you can get on a home theater system spending under a grand. It does not make a difference whether you want to have a great stereo or create an in home theater - This system has the power and quality to do it all.
