| Froggmann's Full Review: Cingular Mobile Phone Service in Los Angeles |
I am currently signed up with Pac Bell through the company I work for. I have been since May of 99 when my old analog Airtouch phone was stolen out of my car. Don’t get me started on them or the Motorola phone I had, you’ll never hear the end.
Anyways, back to the review...
I have been with a Pac Bell cell phone for over a year now and receive ok service. Although recent changes they have made are starting to degrade that opinion. The primary problem I have with their service is although they have "stores" on almost every street corner only the company stores will actually service your phone. I admit I'm hard on my phones, I admit if I didn’t abuse my phone it would last a lot longer. Where this is leading to is the fact that having a phone repaired or replaced is becoming a major problem. Before they would readily replace the phone at no charge (GET THE INSURANCE) without the insurance. Then they got to the point to where they wouldn’t replace the phone unless you had insurance but they would fix it for free. Now they charge to have your phone repaired.
As for service, when I was originally signed up I had adequate service, It was better than the service my friend with sprint had and way better than my old Airtouch phone. The areas my phone dropped out in were understandable; they were newer areas and known drop out areas. That wasn’t a problem you could either work around those or plan for them. But not now, now even though you have full bars on the phone and you know your in a good coverage area it still drops signal or cuts the conversation, frustrating to say the least. The only company I know to have worst service is Nextel. (You can make calls out in the middle of the desert but the heck if you can make a call in the city)
Right now the only pros I see is they have completive rates, ok cust. service, free long distance, and free phone to phone. (Ah la Nextel)
