| darkstarvn's Full Review: Tascam 202mkll Dual Cassette Deck |
I would like to share with anyone wanting to purchase this piece of junk
my woes with Tascam and this model imparticular. About 2-3 years ago I was in the market for a *nice* analogue deck. I wanted something a pro would use. Since I was an avid taper contantly putting miles on home recording decks I needed something solid and sturdy. I thought Tascam was the way to go but I was wrong. I paid about $500.00 for this piece of junk from guitar center. I never got 6 months out of it. In the summer it began making strange noises and my recordings came out with all kinds of wow, flutter and hiss. They sounded horrible. So I decided to get it fixed. Another mistake. You can not find a Tascam repair shop anywhere. You will most likely have to ship it to them, at your own expense. After getting my deck repaired it didn't take long for this brittle piece of junk to start acting up again. I decided to throw it in the garbage, and
but a Sony TCE 625W I think, for $250.00. It cost 50% less than the Tascam and it does a job 100% better. It has lasted me 3 years. Tascam makes garbage. Do not buy their analog deck or their dat deck. Don't buy their cheapy model Teac's either.
