| splitsurround's Full Review: Sennheiser RS 8 Wireless RF Headphones |
My wife bought me a pair of these headphones basically for one reason: so I could watch TV in bed while she sleeps away. Of course, I could use regular headphones with wires, but they get all tangled, and I would have to find a storage area, and it was Xmas, so--viola!
Anyhow, I've found these headphones to be simply perfect for my use. The frequency response is amazing-very nice highs and lows, with very little to no distortion. I've read another review of this product on this site, where he was noticing mild to heavy distortion, as well as interference with 900mhz phones, etc--I have never had any distortion or interference. That might be because I'm sitting 10 feet away from the transmitter, but I do sometimes walk around the house with them on, and it still has been clean. I also live in the suburbs, so that might help as well.
The transmitter has several different input connectors (RCA jacks for a stereo, 1/8" for a Tv, etc) which is nice. It also has 2 battery charging slots on it, and I highly recommend buying one spare. They seem to last around three or four hours, and when the volume starts to lower quickly, you'll know it's time to switch them out.
My one complaint-if you can call it that-is the design of the headphones. If you were sitting on the couch, listening to the stereo, these would be perfect-light, never hurting your ears, very nice. But when you're lying in bed, head against a couple pillows, these headphones are so non-binding that they tend to slide off of your ears easily if you move around, from the pressure of the pillow behind it. You certainly can adjust them to sit optimally, but they're just not secure enough to hold fast to your head if you adjust the pillow or something.
Otherwise, these rock. We really like them because we no longer have wires going over the bedroom floor constantly. I've yet to try them on my stereo, because I seldom have need to use headphones in my own home. But maybe one day...
