I bought the phone because I wanted something small I could hang on my belt and yet would have good quality. The Star Tac has been a great friend in my life and is my constant companion. It has one problem though: It misses about 1 out of 3 calls, but I am not sure it is the fault of the phone. I think it may be the "Mom and Pop Operation" cell phone provider I am using. The phone itself is not the problem, in other words.
A feature I kinda like is that the way the antenna is aligned this type of phone is supposed to be least likely to give you a brain cancer from the radio waves. Of course, in my case I sometimes wonder if I have a brain anyway, so the point may be moot, but it's still nice to know even though Consumer Reports says cell phone-induced brain cancer has never been conclusively proven...yet.
I bought 4 of the little leather belt-holsters and had the flap where the button is sewn by a boot repairman for a little added security. The little plastic holster they give you with the phone is nice but the leather holster is better because you can secure the phone with a velcro swatch.
Motorola has been making telecommunications gear decades before any of these new dot-comish cell phone companies drew up their incorporation papers, so I tend to trust the trademark. The Star Tac is a testimony to their legacy of excellence.
