| missy811's Full Review: RCA DS5451RB DIRECTV System |
We recently moved into our house in the country. What a nice change of pace being we lived in town before! The only thing is, our cable company doesn't run out this far! So for the first few weeks, we had no TV. Couldn't even get anything off the rabbit ears. By the end of our first few weeks I was bored silly, and told my husband we have GOT to get a dish!!
Direct TV
==============
This is the dish we chose because of all the good things I have read in epinions about it! It's an RCA model, and very small with big "waves!" We went to Wal Mart and purchased it and total price was just over $100. You can purchase an addition receiver (only available at radio shack) for another $100. That way you can watch more than one TV at the same time with different show on it. We didn't go with this extra purchase, and have decided that everyone will have to watch TV in the living room now. This will take some getting used to, because everyone in our house had their own TV in their rooms. But didn't really care to spend another $100!
We got home with our new toy and started right away with installation. It was getting late in the after noon and wanted to get the project done before dark so we could watch our new system! The good thing was that the Direct TV office is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So we could call in our order any time. It was fairly easy to install, and only took the two of us to put it up. There came with instructions, and for an additional $39 you could purchase an installation kit. This we did not buy though as we figured we had all the necessary cable and supplies at home already.
Up and running!
===================
After it was all finished, we called up and ordered our package. We chose the cheapest one that is priced at $21.00 for around 50 channels. We also are receiving CBS, and PBS for the moment and hope to add the others soon. Seems that the local companies are not happy with the dishes offering these channels as the customer could possibly hook up an antenna and receive them that way. So we have to wait 45 days to hear about getting these.(NBC and ABC)
Over all this system is working great! We did have to go out and adjust the dish a few times to get it perfect, but now its locked in and in great service. We are getting their complimentary trial offer right now, which includes all their movie channels, and all the extra's. This equals a total of over 900 channel! We have plenty to watch right now!! They hope that you will pay for these once your free trial offer runs out.
We have had our system for almost a week now, and couldn't be happier. I have heard that sometimes when it storms, and is windy that it is hard for the dish to come in clearly, but so far we have had no problems.
