I've used AT&T as my wireless service for 2 years now, and I can honestly say that I've been extremely happy with their service. In particular, the AT&T One Rate calling plans are an outstanding value. Until recently the least expensive plan was $89 for 600 minutes of no long distance anywhere in the country. That's pretty attractive, but few people use 600 minutes a month unless they are conducting business on their wireless phone. While speaking to AT&T Customer Care recently, I was informed of a new One Rate plan that offers 300 minute of Digital One Rate for $59. This plan is very attractive for the user that makes fewer calls but wants to avoid roaming and long distance fees. I have used AT&T's digital serivce in Detroit and most of Michigan, Chicago, New York, and Toronto with great results and a clear, strong signal. I experienced a weak signal in Kansas City and for a brief period could not get any signal or service, but after traveling nearer to Kansas City International Airport the signal strength grew stronger.
I have only one complaint with AT&T Wireless Service. Several times in the past 2 years I have changed calling plans based on weather I was traveling or staying home. On a few occasions I would switch to a non-One Rate plan for a few months, then switch to One Rate while traveling. I inquired about doing this last week and was told that AT&T now requires a one year contract for One Rate plans. I was very suprised since I was first attracted to AT&T Digital because of the lack of a contract. The agent informed me that this was a new rule. So if being in a one year contract is not a problem for you, I recommend looking in to one of these plans.
