I bought my Overture 1 about 4 months ago. I was looking for a Center Channel to complete my system. I compared the Infinity CC-3 and the Overture 1 when I was looking to make a purchase. I decided to go with the Overture 1 and I am very pleased I did. Not only does it combine the quality and clarity of sound that is associated with the Overture series but it is packed into a small cabinet that works great as a center channel. I would recommend this speaker to anyone looks for a high impact center channel, but you can always buy two and use them as surrounds.
The speaker is extremely versatile. It combines 2 4" midrange woofers, a 1" tweeter, but also packs in a 150 watt 8" powered sub!!! I love this feature. The speaker accentuates any sound that is directed from the TV. Imagine a scene where an explosion happens onscreen. The center channel would normally play this sound, but the internal sub just adds depth to the onscreen sounds and immerses you in the action. I do have a powered sub that also plays any low frequency sounds but the fact that there is also a sub in the center channel just adds to the realism. Voices are also given a more powerful effect enhancing onscreen dialogue, but the sub is not overpowering. Infinity has balanced the sound in the Overture series to give a rich full sound from all frequency ranges. There is also a level control on the back of the speaker that allows you to adjust the gain on the sub to balance its power for your own system.
I would love to have a system that uses the entire Overture series, but to anyone that is looking for a center channel I would suggest looking into purchasing an Overture 1. It is not normally thought of as a center channel but it is an excellent application of the technology.
