Well I was window shopping in Hong Kong with my family about 2 years ago when I saw this minature movie player. I stopped to view it, when suddenly a Chinese man whisped me into his store and took it out for me to see. I was startled and I have never seen anything like this so I was automatically interested in what he was saying (thank God he spoke English). He didn't have to say much because the sticker price was $699.99. Needless to say, I bought it and have been happy ever since, except for the Japanese language on the remote it came with.
Reason to Buy:
The reason that I bought this machine was that I new that DVD's would be the new rage, even so much as to invest in Panasonic stock when I reached the states. Also because it was so cheap. I knew that something like this in the states would cost a fortune with sales tax and everything. But nowadays you can get this DVD player as low as $799.99 at some stores.
Durability:
Right now I live in a frat house, and I am treasurer and have recently bought a Big Screen TV for the house. I have plugged in this DVD player into the tv and am using it as our DVD player. Everyday some one is using it, and I have had no problems with it. Also it has been dropped and has fallen behind the TV several times, and it has not broke or changed one bit.
Attractiveness:
I have taken this on the planes before and have been given the best compliments on any purchase I have ever made. I even get a crowd around me during flight. So I guess that the only flaw in this device is that it is to high tech(very flashy).
Who would buy this:
My friends have asked me why is it that I bought this little player instead of a cheaper, larger one. That is exactly it. With the correct Monster Optical Cable, this device comes to life like a regular DVD player would, and then after I am done watching it, I can unplug it and take it to my room for my own viewing on the smaller display, or to secure it in my room incase I am afraid that someone might damage it.
All in all:
All in all, this unit has brought me so much pleasure, with my friends, family, and my self in the house, on road trips, on plane trips, and even outside camping. I can't think of another piece of technology that would behave this well. Thanks Panasonic!
