Two years ago for Christmas I received a Directv set up from my Mother. I had had it with the local cable company about 2 years prior and refused to get cable. So, she thought this would be the perfect gift for me and it was. I immediately fell in love with it. (Did I mention I fall in love with anything with a screen. Or so my wife says.)
Anyway, when we moved to Connecticut we moved into an apartment complex that did not allow you to mount anything to the outside of the building. I tried to mount the dish inside but to no avail. It was impossible to get the signal. So, I tried the local cable company here. (I have to have as many channels as possible you know.) Now we have AT&T digital cable and boy do I miss my Directv. The digital cable is almost comparable but it just isn't the same.
For starters, I had more channels with DTV than I do with AT&T for the same amount of money. DTV boxes also have more features. For instance my wife could program the box to turn on and change to a channel when a show or movie we wanted to tape or watch came on. Then all we would have to do was set the VCR. Even of it was the middle of the night. Also, I never did this, but it says that you can hook your VCR right into the box and then when you program it you don't even have to program your VCR! I can't do this with my cable box.
Also this cable takes more time to load the channel. With DTV when I changed the channel it came on immediately like a regular television. Unless, of course, there is a technical difficulty with the channel itself. Sometimes my cable takes up to 30 seconds to load the channel even if nothing is wrong. Another problem is the guide is wrong alot of the time. Almost everyday when I am surfing I come across something I want to watch that the guide says is on but it isn't. Also, DTV has NFL Sunday Ticket. For the low Price of $129 for regular subscribers I can watch every football game televised on Sunday!! I am going to miss that most of all. Cable certainly has got nothing like that!!
In conclusion, when I finally move out of this complex,(Which will be next year when I hopefully buy a house.) I am going right back to Directv. Cable just has got nothing on DTV!
