Ok, the title is a bit of a broad statement in that it assumes you already have two things.
1) A CD Burner
2) A whole lot of MP3's
That being said, this is by far the best deal going. The nifty CD/MP3 player will read a standard Compact Disk as well as a CD/R that has MP3's burned on it. Considering the fact a CD/R can hold 650mb of data that will translate into 130 five meg MP3's or over TEN HOURS of music per CD/R. In theory, I can have this little baby hooked up in my car with a CD/tape adapter and not hear the same song twice during a whole week of commuting back and forth to work (One hour each way).
Now as far as the unit itself is concerned, yes they have cut some corners here and there. For example, it is not made of the best material. As a matter of fact it has a very cheap feel to it. My answer to this is a simple one:
IT ONLY COST $99.00….IT WAS CHEAP!
The function buttons are initially hard to navigate, the stop and play buttons are very small and hard to see when you just glance down at them, furthermore you need to put a good amount of pressure on the buttons to get them to work. The others are close together and take some time to get use to but after a few days navigation becomes simple.
As a matter of fact, the need to apply a good amount of pressure on the buttons is nice because it eliminates the accidental touching of a button.
Another potential problem with this could be file navigation. With over 130 songs possible per CD, finding a specific song could present a challenge due to the LCD only showing the track number. The player does support multiple directories/folders on the disk although I have not tested its functionality yet.
Other considerations include the need for your MP3's to be ripped at 128kbs/44mhz and it will only read CD/R's not CD/RW's. This can be a bummer if your collection of music is sampled at higher bit rates/sound quality levels.
On the positive side the player boasts a 50 sec. Anti skip and multi level EQ for those with differing music tastes. It also allows for 50 seconds of recording and has a jack for a microphone, although I don't plan on ever using that.
CONCLUSION
With the availability of high speed internet connections, CD Burners, and file sharing tools like Napster and Gnutella, it is not uncommon for people to have hundreds of MP3's on their computer. If you have wanted to take there MP3's away from the desktop getting a MP3 player is most likely in your plans.
If your looking for a player to use while working out, running of any other venture that would cause a lot of movement then I strongly recommend a regular MP3 player, i.e. RIO or Lyra due to the fact that they have no moving parts therefore no skipping. (Please see my other MP3 player reviews)
If you want to play them in your car or at work, etc., this is by far the best deal going.
