| hwz1's Full Review: Sony KV-32XBR250 |
First of all, I apologize to any of you who may be 97 year old females. Secondly, I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am that I purchased the Sony KV-32XBR250.
PRICE:
To begin with, the television is fairly expensive, but it is worth the price when you discover the features and the excellent picture. The suggested retail price is $1899.99 and I will agree wholeheartedly that this a lot to pay for a tv. However, the way I look at it is that I am not going to purchasing a tv every few years- I may own this one for 10- 15 years. Therefore, I feel that spending a decent amount of cash in order to have a nice tv with many "bells and whistles" is worth the cost.
A tip: If you live near a Sony outlet by all means check it out. I purchased my KV-32XBR250 for $1399.99 after visiting the outlet store. I am not sure where the outlet locations are, but there is one located in the Rockvale Square in Lancaster, PA.
FEATURES:
The KV-32XBR250 is loaded with many different features- including some that you will never use. However, I like to know that they are there should I decide to use them. Here is a listing of the features that will make this a great tv:
* 32 inch diagonal screen
* Picture Processor and Focus Circuitry (All I know is that these help make the picture better for the viewer)
* 30 Watt speakers
* Noise reduction system (Eliminates background noise)
* Headphone capabilities
* Two Picture in Picture options
* Screen freeze (Better know as pause)
* Favorite channel preview (Allows you to quickly view your five favorite channels)
* V- chip for parental controls
* Remote control and a joystick remote control option (Lights up for easy use in the dark)
FEATURE NOTES:
I figured that I should explain a few of the features and why I think they are special or of excellent quality. First of all, the flat screen is designed to maximize your viewing enjoyment (WOW! THat sounded good!) by removing outside light sources. Think of the sun or light that reflects on the screen and how annoying that can be. Essentially, the flat screen is designed to eliminate much of the outside light.
The various sound filters and options provide a sound that is second to what the theater can provide. In other words, the sound you are getting is the best of stereo surround sound and incorporates Sony's excellent speaker technology.
The V- chip allows parents to monitor and block certain programs that they deem unsuitable for children. Do not want your child (or husband, for that matter) to watch the Jerry Springer show? Simply, use the remote and you can block the show from being viewed on the tv.
Finally, I find the favorite channel preview to be quite useful and handy when it comes to deciding what show you want to view. I often find myself doing a quick search from the Weather Channel, CNBC, ESPN, CNN, and the local station in the early morning. I want to know scores, news, stock quotes, and whether or not I will need an umbrella. The favorite channel preview allows me to quickly view exactly what is being shown on these channels so I can avoid endless channel surfing.
THE GOOD:
* Excellent picture
* Excellent sound
* V- chip
* Many features
* Remote is simple to use
* Set up is quick and easy
THE BAD:
* Fairly expensive
* Too many options for some
* The tv is quite heavy
THE RECOMMENDATION:
I would recommend the KV-32XBR250 to anyone who is in the market for a new tv. The technology produces an excellent picture and the sound quality matches the picture. Again, the tv is expensive, but you are purchasing a product that you will not need to replace for a number of years- maybe even a decade. Hence, I feel that the money is well spent.
