| zengeos's Full Review: Samsung TXJ 2766 27 in. TV |
Back in early January, my 19 inch tv finally died. It had served me well, but...it was dead. So, after thinking about the situation I decided it was high time to look for another tv. I thought I might even be able to get a larger screen; perhaps 20 or 25 inches even!
Off I went with my devils advocate (my mother! Who else?!) to the local mall and electronics super store. So many tv's to choose from and prices ranging from under $100 for 10-13 inches to several thousand for widescreen! What to do?
We wandered the aisles and lo and behold! Several different 27 inch tv's were under $350! "Well, well!" I thought to myself, "I think I can afford one of these!" So, we looked and found several 27 inch tv's, including a Phillips, if memory serves me right and the Samsung TXJ2766. After thinking and comparing prices and features, I chose the Samsung.
Several factors swayed my decision, not the least of which was the under $300 price tag on sale! The front panel VCR/camcorder inputs were a HUGE plus, and I thought this tv just looked nice.
So, I bought it and managed to squeeze it into my little car and got it home. I'll tell you, these bulky 27 inch tvs are NOT easy to carry up 3 winding flights of stairs! But, I managed to get it home and plugged it in.
Within 30 seconds I was beaming! The screen displays vibrant colors and is very clean and crisp. Not to mention that the square corners really seem, to my eyes at least, to give the picture a cleaner more movie screen-like quality.
The sound quality isn't bad either! Since the case is relatively large to fit the 27 inch screen, the speakers are placed far enough apart to help produce a nice quality stereo sound...for a tv.
The remote works very well, though I am a bit disappointed that the batteries died after only 10 months. Being a universal type remote (Are all the remotes universals now? It seems like it to me!)I can use it with the VCR, tv or a DVD player. It also has a nice grip to it. Rather than being long, wide and flat, the remote has a more ergonomic oval shape where one grips it.
So, all in all, I am pleased with this purchase and I would recommend it to anyone.
