| Nb41's Full Review: Sony CDX-52 Car CD Changer |
I've now been through 2 Sony CD changers, this one and one I bought in 1995, when I first had a car to actually put one in. As another member said, they're bulletproof.
At the time I bought the first one, it was $400. This changer lasted 2 serious car accidents and 5 years of bumping up and down and all around Tucson, Arizona in an S10 and it never broke. Not once. It never skipped, either. I have never, ever in my life seen a CD changer be so incredibly and completely reliable as that one.
This model is every bit as stable as its ancestor. I haven't had it skip in the 2-3 months I've had it. It wasn't expensive, and it operates fairly quietly. Sony has gotten it down to a science with these CD changers, and I'll probably never buy anything but Sony. The sound is absolutely fantastic, the CDs load quickly. It also reads CDRs, a bonus for those of us with incredibly short attention spans. They work well mounted horizontally or vertically.
I could probably drop this CD player off a cliff and it'd still run, not missing a beat.
