I am writing this opinion on this unit not because I own it, but on the info I received while testing it. when I was out looking for a Power amp for my system, the Bryston 9B was the one to beat. It has the cleanest output of all the amps I tested, a true gem. The sound is not colorized in anyway by the amp. If you have any imperfections in the CD/pre-amp you will hear them loud and clear. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. Both in 2 channel mode and 5 channel mode, sound is clear and robust. Probably closest thing to being there.
I believe Bryston underestimated the output power on it's spec sheets. The sound is clearer and louder than many amps I tested at 2-3X the power rating. This product really makes your movies jump to life. I was at IMAX the other day and compared the output of the Bryston 9B for movies to be on par with the sound at IMAX. It truely is that incredible.
The only reason I didn't decide to buy this one was the price. I found the amp I did buy (an Anthem MCA5) was a close second in sound quality, but at less than a third the price.
I recommend you check this amp out. Not only does it have awesome sound, it also comes with an unheard of 20yr. warranty. And Bryston covers all costs with shipping as well.
