| DrainOWHAT's Full Review: Aiwa NSX-MT725 Digital Mini Theater System |
I bought this system for myself 2 Thanksgivings ago for about $300, and it was probably the best $300 I have ever spent. The hours and hours of solid sounding music I get out of this machine on a consistent basis is worth its weight in gold... but luckily for me it wasn't that expensive, only 3 benjamins.
One of my favorite options is the ability to activate the CD player when the alarm goes off. I have to get up for school every 5 out of 7 days at 5:40 ( yes, AM ) Eastern Standard Time, which is not a barrel of fun. When I do wake up after a refreshing 5 hours of sleep, I don't want to hear some DJ yakin about how there is NO traffic on route 1 because everyone alive is sleeping. I'd much rather hear some 311 or Reel Big Fish to get my endorphins flowing... and what do you know? I can do that! Not only can I wake up to the Cd of my choice, but its so easy, that I can set it at 11:45 every night, without my contact lenses, in a 75% asleep state. This factor alone has made the system one of my most valuable assets.
Another nice feature is the fact that when it has to be, and when i want it to be, it can be LOUD. This is where the title comes into play. Every once in a while ( twice daily ). I open up all the windows in my room, put on some good tunes, and just let the system bust out to the max. Can you really blame me? It gets me motivated to do fun stuff like, clean my room, and lay down. The volume is based on a 1-50 scale. Anything above 10 is loud enough to be a decent level. Once you hit 30, the ears start throbbing. 50 is nuts. The windows shake, everything shakes, no one sleeps. The point is, the sound capabilities are out of control and should be praised regularly.
Some of the other fancy features are karaoke, which is always fun. There are 2 mic jacks so you and your friend of choice can bust out and split up the parts of the 87 rappers in Juvenile's BACK THAT THANG UP. (Horrendous song.) Two cassette players allow for easy recording from the radio or CD, or even from tape to tape if you had the desire to do such a silly thing.
Overall this system is great. It has lasted me almost 3 years now with basically no problems. Once the CD got stuck in playing position and we had a minor crisis... its a hard problem to explain so I won't try. The end result was I just had to take the top off the CD tray, which took about 2 minutes and was easier done than said.
If you're looking for a good, LOUD system and don't feel like spending 4 digits, i highly recommend this piece of equipment. Alright I'm goin to the store to go buy a new discman cause my old one broke the other day. LOOK FORWARD TO MY REVIEW OF IT.
