I purchased the Dish, because my mother and father had it, and was very excited, but I soon learned that what they could have on theirs, only five miles from my home, was not what I could recieve on mine!
The price versus cable is unbeatable! Compared to other Satelite Systems that advertise basic starting at $19.95 and then you have to pay $29.95 because you don't qualify for that plan, Dishnetwork stands true to their word!
My major gripe is that when I got my dish I was told that I could not recieve the ABC,NBC,CBS,and FOX until my cable had been disconnected for 90 days. Fine, after ninety days, our wonderful government decided to pass a bill that limited the customers on satelite to recieve these channels. Therefore, I have had to send in waivers to recieve these channels. I have finally been approved for 3 of these excluding FOX, which is very disheartening to me, because I love Alley McBeal and cannot watch it! Because of this unstead of paying the $7.99 a month for all four network channels, which is really eight channels, because you get both east and west I have to pay $9.00 and only get three of the networks! The customer service there is in major need of a makeover. They never seem to be able to help.
I do believe that my satelite is much better than my cable ever was and my bills are still less, and I get much more programming, but you need to be aware of the problems you WILL encounter if you purchase any satelite, with the exception of customer service, because I have only dealt with Dishnetwork. If you find a better system let me know!!!
