This receiver is an excellent way to get started in the home theater venue. I bought mine as a pre packaged system which included 5 satellite speakers and a subwoofer. Setup was pretty easy to do. The receiver has a two nice setup programs which are explained fairly well in the manual. There are plenty places to hook up all of your external components including one optical and one digital coax connection unfortunately there were no S-Video connections. The receiver delivers a full 75 watts to each of the 5 channels in surround mode so there's plenty of power to drive almost any speaker you could find to hook up to this thing. There are plenty of extra features and I especially liked the setup on the front of the receiver.

The system comes with a universal remote which is nice and small and is laved out fairly well, but it did not really work with my other components. IT works fine on the receiver and is easy to use and complete in that respect, but don't count on getting rid of you other remotes quite yet.

Overall I think the sound quality was excellent and the extra features are great and easy to use.
