I love my Nextel phone. I really do. My office bought these phones for the twelve of us computer technicians and we love the things. The service is good and the DirectConnect is wonderful. In the past we would get paged, and have to go into an office, ask to borrow the phone and call back. Now, with the press of a button we can immediately talk to any of our staff with out paging them and having to wait for them to call back. There features we have are: 600 minutes of phone time per month, DirectConnect two way radio-like service, paging, caller ID, call waiting, voicemail, and email to the phone screen. I understand that they have wireless Internet, but we don't subscribe to it. All the services work as they’re supposed to, but the reception is spotty in some parts of San Antonio and in rural areas. Their service map (on www.nextel.com) gives you a good picture of where service is, but it should be more widely available (they’re working on that). Our most used service is definitely the DirectConnect, but I quite like the email feature. I have set up a product called What’s Up by Ipswitch to send email to my phone any time one of our servers goes down, and that had proven to be a great tool.
I do have one complaint, though. Their billing department leaves a lot to be desired. Our bill has been messed up many times in the time that we've had the phones. It has certainly been a pain in the neck, in that respect.
With lots of benefits and only a few detriments, I would recommend Nextel to any group of business people who want to stay in touch in the San Antonio metro area or any city.
