When I moved to S.W. Florida from Omaha, Nebraska two years ago my son helped me carefully pack my good old Sony Trinitron 27 inch TV. It made the journey in good shape and served me well in my new surroundings for about a year. Suddenly the color wasn't what it should have been and I couldn't get it adjusted. It was time for a new TV. (NOTE: I use WebTV and cannot paragraph so I use dots.) ..........................................................................................................................I don't know one TV from another so my daughter and son-in-law surprised me by purchasing a new Phillips Magnavox 27 inch that I dearly love. It's worth all the years of child-rearing because they do grow up and become very generous human beings to their old mom. I couldn't handle a larger set because it had to fit into a beautiful cherry wood entertainment cabinet that when closed looks more like an armoire. Besides, my den is small and any bigger TV would mean I'd have to tunnel a path to my neighbors condo to be back far enough to watch the programs. .........................................................................................................................I really like this TV, the color is very sharp. That took me awhile to get right because the cable company kept putting me off saying some channels come in better than others. They just didn't want to do any work. I finally got someone who checked into it and discovered that the cable box that is attached to my TV was faulty. He installed a new box and I've had a perfect picture ever since. I have a cable box so I can watch PayPer View. .........................................................................................................................I'm no electronic whiz so I don't even use all the options on the remote control. I use the Philips Magnavox remote to turn on the set and to control the volume. I have to use another remote to switch channels. This is no fault of the manufacturer, it's because it just works easier this way for me. My son-in-law also installed a Philips Magnavox WebTV box and I think that complicated matters remote-wise. But as long as this works...who cares! ...................................................................................................................... ....This is a great TV set and it doesn't bankrupt you either. I think they got it on sale for under $300. I should also mention that I like the sleek black finish on the television cabinet. It fit beautifully into my entertainment armoire and should serve me well for many years.
