This is my third epinion on a Panasonic product. I never realized that my love affair with Panasonic was so wide spread but it is. I have the shockwave CD player, portable phone and know I would like to share with you my opinion and experience with the Panasonic CT-27G13. I will discuss the features, picture & sound, general comments.
1. FEATURES:
The Panasonic CT-27G13 comes equipped with several standard features that include a picture tube that the manufacturer describes as "a Panablack Picture tube and Notch Filter Circuitry for 600 limes of resolution capability. Panablack picture tube is said to provide improved screen pigmentation and the depth of field and picture contrast. According to the owners manual this model also comes equipped with 181 Channel Quick Scan tuner, Game guard, Channel Captioning, and On/Off Timer. These functions are all controlled by the Easicon Multibrand Remote using a (and get this if you can understand it, I certainly don't but I'm glad it is there)Transparent Multilingual Icon menu System. Phew, ain't that a mouthful!!
The TV is also equipped with stereo sound, with dbx(Dolby) noise reduction and you can connect the TV to your stereo or VCR via the AV input jacks and Variable Audio Output jacks.
2. STYLE, PICTURE, SOUND:
The Panasonic CT-27G13 is a sleek and savvy looking, it is black in colour and is perfect for your den, rec room or bedroom, it is not too big or bulky but you do have to make sure that you have about 3 feet in length to accommodate the entire TV set.
Panasonic claims that the 'picture clarity and colour is so magnificent you have to see it to believe it'. I have seen it and would agree with this statement that it is a great TV. The colour is crisp and sharp aswell as possessing a very clear picture. the colour, tint etc.. are all easily adjustable.
The sound is very good. It is not the Sony sound which I believe is the best of the best but I also think sound is a subjective thing. Some people like heavy bass while others like heavy treble. At the end of the day this TV set sounds great when hooked up to my stereo which has 8 year old speakers but even if you don't hook it up to a stereo you get pretty good sound. On average I turn the volume upto 12 that seems to get good results.
3. GENERAL COMMENTS:
My initial inclination was to buy a Sony TV but I choose the Panasonic CT-27G13 based on doing some research and finding out that you get similar quality but pay more for the Sony name. I do think that the Sony Trinitron possess an amazing picture but for my purposes the Panasonic CT-27G13 does the job very well. this model is not top of the line. It does not have picture in picture or speaker surround which you can get in other models but I don't miss those features but they do come in handy when you and the better half want to watch two different shows at the same time.
I am happy with the performance of the Panasonic CT-27G13 and I can't think of any negative things to say. I know that epinionators like to hear the whole story and you have heard it all! I have had this TV for a year and have not had any trouble(knock on wood). Finally, the remote control is easy to use and you can work your VCR from it too. The only problem is that the face is starting to fade so you can't tell the numbers of the channels but it is easy to use and also allows you to set the colour, tint, time, sound etc. right from the comfort of your couch!
Overall, I would say your getting a better than average TV for a great price!! The picture is clear, the sound is crisp, the remote works well so just rip open a bag of chips and enjoy your favorite movie or TV show.
