| tenchiboy's Full Review: Audiovox CDM4000 |
As phones were getting smaller, and talk times were lasting longer, I found myself in need of upgrading my phone from the older Nokia digital phones. However, my wireless carrier (Verizon aka Bell Atlantic Mobile) maintains the worst selection of phones that I have ever seen. AT&T and Cell One were both offering smaller, more advanced phones. At first I was hesitant about staying with Verizon. However, they just started marketing the Audiovox 4000s. Although not a new phone, it seemed to be a better choice than what they currently had in inventory. Lets see....features. Ok in terms of features, the Audiovox 4000 is very comparable to Nokia, Motorola, and Ericsson. 99 phone number memory, average standby time of more than a week, 3 hour talk time and a very lightweight size. I was only disappointed in the lack of multi functions that the Nokia phones come with. I am talking about the calculator, 200 number memory (no they are not all personal numbers) and lest we forget, the games. Ok, well I guess I can live without the games and calculator.
When i first got my Audiovox phone, I was surprised to see how light it was compared to the Nokia 6100 series. Although it did feel like a plastic toy...I found its light weight convenient. I was also delighted to see that the phone came with more than one type of ringing tone. I was expecting more of a "Motorola" ring to it. Although the tones were not as catchy as Nokia's, I did find one that I really liked.
The sound quality was better than I had expected. It was clear and crisp. I expected a lot of hissing and crackling but only found that when I had connection problems due to my network.
My overall rating....better than what I had expected and definitely the best choice on the Verizon network. I like the phone...however, catching up with Nokia in terms of technology and size wouldn't hurt either.
