Over the past four years we have purchased several different models of the Aiwa brand, we bought my son a unit for Christmas, we got it on sale for $150.00. This unit wasn't even a year old when the CD wouldn't work at all. There were no warranties that would cover the cost and we ended up taking it to a repair shop, we were told to go buy another unit.
The next year we purchased a better model for our daughter, this was on sale for $225.00. The unit wasn't even six months old and the CD would work off and on, again no warranties and it is used for the radio and cassette.
We bought an even better model on sale for $349.00 and after a year the unit just stopped working, it now sits in a repair shop and they are trying to locate a part, again we were told to go buy another unit.
We owned another AIWA and after one year the CD player jammed and would not operate.
Why did we keep buying AIWA? who would have thought that all of the AIWA's that we owned , we still have one in the repair shop (one year), one went in the trash and the other two are used for radios.
We originally bought AIWA because of it's reputation, but I will never buy another one. We have friends and family members who experienced similar problems, especially the one that the part cannot be located.
My suggestion is to buy the warranty.
