| mommyknowsbest's Full Review: RCA DS2122RD Single LNB DIRECTV System |
We have had our satellite for almost a year now and it is great, until it rains! Thank goodness we leave in Texas and don't have to worry about that often. All in all we are very pleased with both the hardware and the service we have been receiving.
The dish itself was a great deal. We had been looking around at sales ever since visiting my in-laws and watching the variety of shows they had on their Direct TV. We found the dishes on sale all over town for just under $100, but ended up purchasing our on line on UBid.com for $25. It was new and came with the installation kit and everything you needed to get it set up and started. The only catch was that you had to commit to a six month term of service which was really no big deal.
Installation was a breeze, took less than an hour and that includes mounting the dish running the cable through our attic and calling Direct TV and getting it turned on. My husband did all the work and said that the instructions were easy to follow and was pleased. Turning the service on was nothing more than a phone call, letting them know what channel package we desired, and it was on instantly.
We opted for a larger package with several premium channels. They have packages anywhere from $20 on up. We have right at 140 channels right now and it is still less than what our regular cable was with only HBO. I really like that channels such as Disney are not considered premium with Direct Tv and in fact we get 3 Disney Channels which the kids love! There is such a variety of channels we never have a problem finding something interesting to watch.
As I said there is a problem with the reception when the weather gets bad but that is rare at least where we are, and it has to get pretty bad at that before it has problems. Other than that we have been extremly pleased with it. The picture is 100 times clearer than the cable ever was and I have noticed that more and more people in our area are going with satellites such as these instead of the regular cable.
This is a product I highly recommend.
