| jzawisl's Full Review: General Reviews of Alltel Customer Service |
AT&T coined the phrase reach out and touch someone, the cellular provider Alltel had no intentions of following suit. For beginners, Alltel's service areas and plans are among the worst in the business. When my family signed up for a plan, they conveniently provided us with an 800 number assigned to our local number that we were not aware of. No biggy, until we started receiving calls from all over the country at all hours of the day asking for a company we had never heard of.
This situation is still not a big problem until we tried to cancel it. Call #1: "We are sorry, it has been disconnected". Call #2: "We are sorry, it has been disconnected". Call #3: "We are sorry, it has been disconnected". Call #4: "I am sorry, I am taking my business elsewhere". You would think after the harassment of the callers, the incompetence of the customer service staff and the charges needing to be reversed as a result of this problem would be grounds to cancel our contract. WRONG! They felt no compassion for their customer and left us with 3 more months of a marginal service plan.
As if the hassles are not that big of a deal, the 15-30 minutes on hold to talk to a service rep is half the battle. My advice, if you are absolutely sure you will have no problems, try Alltel. But, if you fathom the remote possibility of the necessity of a customer service rep, look for another carrier. Best of luck!
P.S.: In Alltel's defense, after much yelling and climbing the chain of customer service command, we did receive a $25 service credit for the hassle.
