Pros:Inexpensive, clear, convenient.
Cons:Occasional voice mail problems.

Sprint PCS in Los Angeles is as good as anyone else's service. The reason why I signed up with them is because I'm a first time user and their deal to lure in us first-time folks was 250 local, and 250 long distance minutes. That's over 4 hours of talking time per month, and the cost is $30 per month.

So I cancelled my long distance from home and signed up. I have a dual-band phone, capable of being used in both Digital and Analog modes. In the city, it's all Digital, and very clear. It's a cliche, but it's like being next door. I also have voice mail and caller ID as well, which is included in your service, it does not cost extra.

I like it because it's more convenient than a pager, which I used to have. The calling area is vast, not just in major cities, but wherever I travel, I'm generally in a digital area. I have an older phone, but you can buy newer ones for $100-$200, depending on the style and whether or not you want to access the Internet. The only problem I have is regarding voice mail. If I have a message, a display with an envelope is supposed to show up on the phone. It doesn't always happen, so sometimes a message can sit in my voice mailbox for a few hours. To get around it, I just check my voice mail everytime I turn the phone on, but that can be a pain, especially since it shouldn't have to be that way.

People who have never had a cell plan or phone should go for this service. No one really knows how many minutes you have the potential of using, but you have plenty to burn here, and for only $30 a month, the price is tough to beat.

Overall, for a first time user, the pros well outweigh the cons. You get phone service you can use in Sprint's Digital area which is just about everywhere in the US and you get a ton of minutes to use per month. You can access your account easily on the internet as well, plus their customer service has been solid so far.
