digital 320 great machine great price

Mar 11 '00

I was looking for a simple an inexpensive way to send pictures over the internet when I began my search for a digital camera. The first question I answered was price. I bought my Polaroid Digital 320 for just over $50.00 dollars. I was floored by the going rate for digital cameras and asked the counter person for a suggestion of something for the average guy not looking to go pro with his pictures and was directed to look away from the glass top showcase and to look in the peripherals on the wall. I found the Polaroid hanging on a peg in a plastic cell package.

The second question I answered was what kind of quality can you expect for this much money. The package included the cable to connect to a regular com port and the software required to download from the camera.I was quite surprised at the weight of the package in total. Don't be fooled by this the weight is not related to the power offered in this machine. I was able to install the software quickly and easily( it does require a pentium or better in your computer but this is common today.).

I began shooting and experimenting with my new camera that evening and found lighting to be a bit of a problem. The Polaroid Digital 320 does not come flash equipped but there is a Fun Flash model that is equipped for a slightly higher price. If your using your camera mostly outdoors this is no problem. The camera uses a regular 9 volt power source and is very easy to use.

It does have a timer for those self inclusive shots and the framing is very easy to get a handle on. You can mount the camera to a tripod or use it freehand. The camera will hold 16 shots but I usually get 20 or so before it is full. The software provided is more than adequate and makes the downloading quick. You will have the option of making photo albums and editing your Pictures. If you like the humorous touch the software also includes a set of fun artwork that you can easily import your pictures into for many great effects and memorable shots.

In using my camera indoors I was forced to turn on a room lamp as a light source. Lighting is a question in any photo situation and you will have to try a few different things to accomplish your own desired effects. The colors are very true and the grain is very accurate for a machine of this price. I handed the camera to my 5 year old son and asked him to take a few shots around the house and yard so that I could see how easy to understand it would be in relation to the regular camera that he is accustom to and was pleased to find that the operations were simple and easy to even a 5 year old.

I must give the Polaroid Digital 320 a good rating and suggest it as a very good buy for the average family looking to use a digital without becoming entangled in the big big world of digital technology. I would however suggest an upgrade to the Fun Flash version for those who suspect lighting to be out of their own control and the additional cost is minimal anyway. Please give it a try and you will be very surprised and pleased with the results.
