| jkingo's Full Review: Sony SAT-B3 Digital Satellite System |
I switched from cable to dish in '96 'cause I was sick of the customer service of local cable.
Since then, I've watched DirecTV turn into an '80's-style cable company: no customer service; instead of busy signals, voice mail limbo and interminable holds.
No "deals" on service, unless you're brand new. USSB offered deals; so does cable.
You're stuck with the technology you bought. And DirecTV refines gimmicks like "Wink" where you can push a button on your remote for more info on the commercial you're watching, or perhaps the ERA of the Indians relief pitcher. Wowee! Or local TV stations in Des Moines filling up their satellite capacity.
I just switched back to digital cable from ATT. So far, so good. Dolby Digital box, unlike my ancient DSS receiver.
Other than that, I liked my Sony receivers. They were work-horses. But DirecTV...see Animal Farm.
