I have been an Airtouch customer for almost 5 years. But...when the year 2000 comes I will be leaving them for good. Why you might ask? Because they are the worst wireless provider in Los Angeles.
Once upon a time your choice for Cellular service was Airtouch or LA Cellular and Airtouch was the best carrier (in my opinion). But then along came Sprint PCS, Pacbell PCS, and AT&T bought out LA Cellular, and now Airtouch is the worst.
The bad: Airtouch service provides the worst reception with the most dropped calls that I've ever experienced from any company. Granted I've never had any other carrier...but my girlfriend has Pacbell PCS and the clarity is much superior as well as the fact that I've never experienced a dropped call from Pacbell PCS. Additionally, Pacbell (and I believe some of the other carriers) offer other services for no additional charge that Airtouch does not. The two biggest being paging and voice mail built into the phone. And you can't even get a Nokia 5100 or 6100 phone for use with Airtouch service. They're not compatible!!!!
The good: Only one thing. Free night (and weekend) minutes promotion. You know why they're the only one offering it (the night-time part)? Because without that promotion they have NOTHING!!! With lousy coverage, and poor customer service...they have to have something to get the customers.
Sadly, I'll miss my free night minutes...but then I'll remember that I'll be able to use my phone for conversation and not have to worry about whether or not my call will actually go through.
