Dont Get me wrong The Nomad Mp3 player is a great player but my opinion is that there is no competiton for the Diamond Rio 500. The Nomad does not have built in memory and the most megabytes of storage that you can have in the Nomad at once is 64mb. The Rio 500 has 64 mb of built in memory and an extra memory card slot to hold compact flash memory cards. With this slot the Rio is expnadable to 96 or 128 mb of memory. More memory means more songs. I have both of these players and from experience I found out that the Nomad does not display the full song name or title , While the Rio you can put in what you want to be displayed on the player. The Rio also scrolls the Name , Artist and Album of the song across the LCD screen. The Rio 500 has a blue backlight screen to make it easier to read in the dark or inside. Sure the Nomad has voice recording and fm radio but the voice recording on the Nomad takes up a lot of memory, too much for my liking. Me and a few friends recorded a 30 second clip and was shocked when we found out that it took up 18.5 mb. So If Nomad could fix that it would be a much better player than the medioker player it is today. So if your buying an MP3 player go with the Diamond Rio 500.
