| disartain's Full Review: Sony SAT B50 Satellite TV Receiver |
I was using Prime Star Satellite. We did not buy but rented, this way they were responsible for the equipment. For the last year or so all I heard on PrimeStar was Directv had bought the company or merged. Everyone would be contacted to have the upgrade to Directv.
I finally got the letter to call and make an appt. to upgrade. 3 days later the man came on time. He went outside to take down the satellite and put up the other Dish. He came to the door and asked if we had a pair or tree clippers to cut limbs. I told him no. I then asked my husband to go outside and see if he could help to figure out where to put it. I looked out a few minutes later and my husband was out trying to dig up the post that the satellite was on, I couldn't believe my eyes.
I called out and asked what are you doing? We are trying to get the post out. The next thing I knew my husband had dug down about 1 and a half feet and was now cutting off the pole because they couldn't dig it up.
my husband took an old fan stand outside to put the dish on because the man said someone had stolen the one he was supposed to put at our house. He came inside and hooked up the sets and showed us how to use the remotes. Then he said he would be back the next day with the pole.
True to his word he came back and put the pole up and the dish on it and left. My yard was littered with the cables running from the house to the dish, there was no covering on the connection box that was attached to our house. He called the next morning and said he would be there Saturday to bury the cables and pick up his roll of wire and various other things he had left in the yard.
Tuesday came and no one had come to do the work. I called Directv and after being transferred 3 times I was given a number to call Primestar.
I called and they again made an appointment to have the man return. This was after I told them that there was a law suite waiting to happen.
The man finally came and covered the box and buried the cables and left.
Now I was left with a satellite upended in my yard and told this was ours to dispose of however we wanted, the yard had been dug and covered and looked like a mole lived there.
After all this was directv worth it? NO. The picture quality is no better then the satellite was. The stations that we got was about the same price as Primestar was. The remote was not the one they showed on TV and is difficult to use.
I had just sent off my Primestar bill which is always billed in advance, I assumed that this would just be credited to the Directv account. The next day I received a bill from Directv. I called them and explained about sending the other payment in and was told that it didn't matter that I still had to pay this bill on time because it would be about 6 weeks until the bill I had already paid would be credited to Directv.
Lousy Customer service, No one knows what he is doing, constantly being shuttled back and forth from one company to the other.. The only thing I am happy about is I don't own stock in this company.
