| Paragon930's Full Review: Sony CDX-606 Car CD Changer |
When the people at Plymouth told me that a factory installed single cd player for my car would cost me $600+ and that was without a tape player, I knew I needed to find another way to play CD's in my car. Someone told me about the Sony CD changers for the car so I went to check it out for myself.
A 10 CD changer for only $250?? It seemed too good to be true, but it wasn't at all! This baby plays CD's perfectly, and even though my Plymouth Neon gives a pretty bumpy ride, this thing never skips.
I can't say if installation was easy or not because I didn't trust myself or anyone I knew to do it, so I took it to be installed by professionals (only an extra $40).
What I can say is that it is very easy to use. The base is installed into the trunk of your trunk and hooked into the FM line (you need FM radio to use this CD changer). Then you find the FM frequency that is best in your area (mine plays CD's while on FM station 88.5 or something). You do not hear any of the sound from the frequency while your CD's are playing, all you hear is quality CD sound.
There is a display that is attached to a wire near the lower dashboard of the car that is used to see what disc is playing at the moment, or to skip songs, go back to songs, put it on repeat 1, repeat all, or shuffle.
The only down side of this, which I got over quickly, is the location of where the display screen has to stay. It is rather low down and not really easy to access, but once you get used to it you begin to forget that it was ever a problem in the first place.
So, if you want to play CD's in your car for a great price, try any model in the line of Sony CD changers.
