Nokia 6160 vs. 5160May 20 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Trying to decide between the two phones? If so, here are a couple things to keep in mind. The major difference between the two phones is the price. Depending on which service provider you use you can get the 5160 from anywhere around 69.00 to 100.00, While the 6160 seems to be locked in around 179.00. The functions on these two phones differ slightly and could be worth the extra money to someone but they are not to me. The 6160 has four games vs the 5160 three games. The 6160 also boasts a calendar to keep track of your daily tasks. The 5160 has no calendar. The other advantage to the 6160 is that is has storage of 200 numbers vs the 5160 memory bank of 100 numbers. In my opinion the calendar is a pain to use and the extra game are not reason to pay 70-100 more for the 6160. The 100 extra number memory is a great feature because compiling 100 numbers comes quicker than you realize. Both phones offer the same size and weight with a similar look to them. The main difference and a really cool feature is that the 5160 is able to change its look in seconds with clip on faceplates. You can find basically any style or color faceplate nowadays. The 6160 can get a facelift but you have to have special tools and it is recommended that you take it into a certified nokia store to do the work. To sum up my opinion I have had both phones and feel that the 5160 is a much better deal because it eliminates the useless features of the 6160 and is much cheaper. I also like the concept of changing the faceplate whenever I feel like it. Lastly, The battery, talk time, and reception are all the same so it is basically the silly features that you are paying more or less for. I recommend also using At&T's service because in my opinion after using Sprint, Voicestream, and airtouch there is no comparison with reception quality. |
