| gdm's Full Review: EchoStar 2700 Digital Satellite System |
We bought an EchoStar system in August of 1997 because we live in a rural
area and regular tv reception was poor.We were quite happy with it for
six whole months and then the receiver quit.EchoStar replaced the
receiver with the same [model 3000],only it was reconditioned. We were
not too happy about getting a reconditioned receiver but they assured
us it would be fine. They also billed us for$59,plus$15 for shipping. After
alot of hassle,we did not have to pay this $74.This year in May,the second
receiver broke. The e-mail customer help line offered two credits, one of $49 towards our account, and another for lost service. We decided to upgrade
to the"500" system. When we notified them of this, they gave the $49.and refuse to give the second credit.Their customer service[?]is horrible. We have over twenty five e-mails and have their promise on
paper but they refuse to acknowledge it.The new system, which also gets
our local channels, loses both satellite signals if heavy rain is in the vicinity.
I wonder how long our new receiver will last.......
