Alpine 3DE-7887 in dash changer

When i purchased Alpine's new innovation, the 3 disc in-dash changer model 3DE-7887,i viewed it as a great product. I inquired about previous problems that have been found in testing of this head unit. I was told of no instances of this product malfunctioning. I purchased this product and had it installed professionally, even though i could do it myself(warranty reasons). I had it for only 2 months and the cartridge started hanging up. At first, i could remove the cartridge easily with a little work, but after a while, it hung up for good. I lost three cd's in this unit and also lost trust in this unit. I also referred a close friend to buy this unit also, and his did the exact same thing.
This unit had superb sound quality and many features to improve sound quality including the subwoofer fade, 4 volt pre-out and is a dead head(amps needed to use this unit). I have never had a cleaner unit before, and i was impressed with it. If hassles and a few months without a cd player(arranging a deal with Alpine to get my money back or a different unit) suits you, then this is up your alley. But i would recommend buying a single disc player, especially for the $440 price tag.
