| mbcoop2000's Full Review: RCA DTC100 DIRECTV System |
OK. You spent $3000 or more for the first HDTV in your neighbourhood. The local TV CLAIMS to be broadcasting in HD. So you went out for a search for an HDTV receiver. What's out there?
Really -- nothing worth buying except this receiver. The big problem... it's the only game in town (and has been for months). I have a Mitsubishi TV with RGB or Y/Cr/Cb inpts. The DTC-100 is not compatible.
So I dragged myself down to the local high end video specialist to get a VGA-RGB/VH converter set .. $79 .. and it worked -- but only OK!
My picture (as many reviewers have said) is 7% too small and slightly left shifted (and I can't correct it all).
I bot this for local HDTV and SDTV shows only (4 channels in Baltimore, of which only 2 broadcast ANYTHING in HDTV -- OK NBC SAYS that Leno is HDTV, but go figger!) So this has been an expensive experiment!
If you REALLY REALLY want to buy an HDTV receiver, make sure you are able to get programs in your area (or off the satellite).
When an alternative comes along, I will sell this on eBay and buy a Sony or something with better connectivity and better features.
Nice try RCA. but really!!
