At the time I was picking out a mobile phone service, Sprint looked pretty good. Their coverage area looked pretty wide and their rates were pretty fair compared to other services. However, my sprint mobile phone has given me trouble everytime I turn around.
Before a year had pasted since I bought my phone, it went totally crazy on me. On the display screen the text was messed up. It replace numbers with letter or with wrong numbers and letters with numbers and wrong letters. It was crazy! Pretty soon it got to the point were my phone wouldn't even turn off. I took it to a Sprint PCS shop in my area and they replaced the phone (with a cheaper phone, may I add). Little did I know that this phone would come with more problems.
The phone would constantly turn off by itself without me being aware of it and cause me to miss important calls. Furthermore, it would make calls on it's own which ended up costing me some money. Despite my attempts to put the keyguard on (which prevents the phone from pressing any buttons until you press a certain code to unlock it) it had a mind of it's own and would turn itself off--and I ended up paying the bill!
As far as the actual service, it constantly went out of area. I don't believe that Sprint's map with all the yellow areas where they have service is as complete as they say it is. There must be many small holes in that area that they don't show because my phone is constantly going out of area--it's true, even downtown! It's a pain not only because you have to call the person back, but because the call usually drops at the dreaded time of like 3:02 or something so you have to pay for the whole minute. Of course it couldn't drop two seconds earlier.
Also, my phone sometimes doesn't ring when someone calls me or even tell me that I've missed a call, but then a couple hours later I will get a voice mail that the person left. The time on the voice mail will be for serveral hours earlier even though the phone didn't ring at that time and that call is not on the 10 most recent calls list. I
n conclusion, I am very displeased with my Sprint mobile phone experience and am currently looking for other options. Sprint may work for some people depending on the phone they choose and the area that they will be using the phone in, however, I did not find it to be a good choice for me.
