these subs are hot

Written: Jan 17 '00
Pros:heavy duty, good looking, great sound
Cons:need lots of power

I owned the MTX tri-sub enclosure, I was very impressed with those until I got my new subs. I now own a pair of Eclipse 8810.6 DVC subs, they are 10" with dual voice coils and I have them in parallel so its at 3ohms. I am running a crossfire amp to them with just above 1000watts rms. they are the hardest and cleanest sounding subs I have heard. The only bad thing about theses subs, it may be my car, is that they are not loud enough for people outside the car to hear the bass. I am not the person that does that, I use my stereo for parties when I am not in the car and the music is not full then.
Anyway, they call for a small box that is sealed, so it doesn't take up your whole trunk. The box is 3 cubic feet. Also the subs get down to 22Hz, and they rarely if ever bottom out. They are made of aluminum with rubber surround. A bad thing, if you can consider it bad, is that each sub weighs around 20lbs.
If I had to make a decision to buy them again, I would do it in a heart beat. The only thing you have to make sure to do is give them enough power and they will be one of if not the best sounding sub you have ever heard.
