First of all, I have been a sound engineer for the last 9 years of my life. I have seen the good, the bad, and the god awful ugly. I have been looking for a new stereo for the last six to eight months myself because the slider switch in my old boom box has been failing.
I get a lot of sound system magazines and I do a lot of surfing on the internet. I've done research on a lot of products. I have also been following companies, obviously, for the last nine years. I try to watch what they come out with and follow their trends whether up or down. Sony is definitely a great company when it comes to sound systems.
I bought this system for a couple of reasons. Number one - it came from a great company that has leading edge technology. Number two - it has Dolby Pro Logic surround system as well as Sony's surround sound system. Number three - it is a five-speaker system with a center channel, two wall-mount surround, and two general speakers. Number four - the remote gives you the ability to set the volume levels of the general system as a whole, the center channel speaker alone, and the wall-mount surround speakers alone. And finally, number five – if I ever want to get a MD player I can ad it to the system very easily.
The only thing I don’t like about this system is that you can’t set the EQ yourself. That may be a result of running sound systems for a long time, but I just don’t like that one function. You have to choose from a few preset EQ options. The one I like the best for most of the music I listen to personally is the “Rock” option.
Overall I would say that this is a wonderful system for just about anyone. Have fun with it and don’t hurt yourself.
