Aiwa is the "Sound of Music"
Dec 17 '99
I purchased my Aiwa NSX V9090 a couple of years ago. I decided upon the Aiwa after listening to side-by-side comparisons with Sony, Panasonic & JVC systems. The quality of the sound was much richer, clearer & more pure than the others in this price range of about 400.00. It seems to be a durable system and has survived being handled roughly during moves etc. My friends were quite impressed with its sound and styling, and many have purchased Aiwa systems for themselves. At one point, the cd player began to have problems. It would have trouble beginning a selection and would search and search before it would began to play, or give up trying. I tried a cd cleaning disc and it didn't help. I though I would have to have it repaired, but I loosened the cover and sprayed compressed air cleaner unto the laser area and it has worked fine since. I especially like the idea that it can be set to come on at any time you set it to, and that is has a sleep timer mode that comes in handy for using it in the bedroom. The remote is fully featured, but can be difficult to learn or remember all the functions. It lacks a battery or chip backup to remember settings during power failures, which is something it as well as all systems should have. It is compact in size and easily fits into or on most shelving spaces. I will replace this unit with another Aiwa product when the time comes.
