| seraphim's Full Review: Boston Acoustics VR12 Center Speaker |
This center channel is really impressive and could stand alone if you wanted it to... of course where would the fun be in that? If you are going to make an investment in speakers like these you are of course going to want to purchase a great setup to make your personal shopping spree complete. These speakers have greater range and clarity than any I have sampled to date and that is why I've chosen them to go along with a set of Cambridge Sound Works Towers and a Cambridge Sound Works Ensemble set of environmental/satellite speakers. I feel that these center channel speakers with their three way sound design can keep up with the intensity of the sonic environment created with those other speakers, and can compete effectively with the environmental speakers. These speakers have a perfectly flat response, a complete lack of distortion and great range regarding volume, pitch and tone. I would not even hesitate in recommending them to any friend who asked my opinion on the matter. The only concern one may have with this speaker is the footprint. It is HUGE, and the manuals caution against using it with entertainment systems under 31", I am not prone to agree with that statement simply because with enough inventiveness they could be quite efficiently used with a television as small as 21", though it would involve carpentry and engineering ability on the part of the end user to set up such a system. All in all this is a great sounding and looking speaker system, and if you are afraid of the large dimensions, look to the Boston Acoustics VR10 which is also somewhat less expensive as well.
