| Mongooseonchro's Full Review: Sony CDX-4250 CD Receiver Camcorder |
Sony produces a decent quality car stereo at an affordable price. The affordable price however, doesn't come without flaws. One of the general problems with Sony CD players is their ability to skip during play. Sony has a constant problem with skipping. You can be driving along, hit a small bump, and the CD will skip. To me their is know thing more annoying than hearing your music skip. Not to mention the distortion and unnecessary strain it puts on your speakers.
Another problem with the CDX model is the volume control. It is a knob that turns Counter and Clockwise. The knob starts off as turning in intervals with a small click between each one. Over time the mechanism becomes loose and turns far too easily. It can even come to a point where when you hit a small bump the volume will change on its own. The major problem with this is that it will turn up to full volume. This causes distortion of sound and can even blow your speakers. This is a big problem when hooked up to subwoofers that are ran through an amplifier that has has the subs at maximum volume. This can cause your subwoofers to blow.
These model car stereos are good for someone who wants better stereo sound without paying a lot of money. For anyone who is looking to hook up an entire system, These models may not be the best for you.
