Once you've made the smart decision on purchasing a Nextel phone such as the i1000plus that I purchased, you need to look for a rate plan. Anyone can tell you that a rate plan is based on an individual usage. For me, a pretty basic user of cell phones, I chose the Performance Plus 500. for $75, you get 500 minutes, unlimited direct connect, and all the features of the nextel package. I recommend the additional $6 for the enhanced value package because you get caller ID, call waiting, and 100 text messages. I like the text message feature because Nextel phones have their own SMP e-mail address which means you can have all your e-mails forwarded to your cell phone and also have a copy left on your server. This is the best plan for the basic user. you can get rid of your pager after to buy the phone and this is the rate plan for the average user.
