For the $45 per month one can not expect perfect service, but Houston Cellular comes pretty close. In half of a year, I have only had one dropped call. The main complaint is that at times it is nearly impossible to get a line to dial out. This is most notable in the areas around the major roadways and at the airport.
I use a digital Startac phone and find that the combination of phone and service works well. Typically there are no problems dialing through to whom I want. The reception is good, and if I have the volume set properly, there are no problems hearing the other party. They are able to hear me also. The only complaint about the service, which seems to be reflective of digital service in general is the sound of the voices are somewhat distorted.
Overall I give them 4 of 5 cellular phones! Houston Cellular is a good choice of service providers.
